What do you know about…
We’ve always known being “healthy” is important.
It’s become especially obvious in the last couple of years.
What we don’t always know is what “healthy” means!
There are so many different recommendations and guidelines out there, it can often be confusing and challenging to sort through.
And part of the reason there are so many recommendations is because there is not one way to health.
Each person is unique (bio-individual) and what works for one may not work for another.
Individualized healthcare plans allow you and your provider to optimize your health based upon your personal needs, goals, labs and health history.
It is the true intersection of the art and science of medicine.
Optimizing health through functional medicine is disease prevention.
In a conventional model, the focus is on diagnosing disease.
But the absence of a diagnosable disease does not equal health and this gray area is where functional medicine often shines.
With a functional medicine approach, disease prevention is at the forefront of care. The goal is to optimize your health by intervening before disease occurs.
This often involves uncovering details about your lifestyle, including what you eat, how you move, how you handle stress and how you sleep.
It means identifying nutrient deficiencies and addressing them through food and/or supplementation (because our bodies require nutrients to function! )
It means being open to making changes even when you feel well because you envision a future of health and longevity for yourself.
Before your first appointment, you will complete a comprehensive intake form which provides valuable information and insight into your health. Our first appointment will be a comprehensive assessment of your health, your goals and needs. We develop a plan based upon that information. It often includes blood work, functional lab testing, lifestyle & food recommendations and supplements. At our subsequent appointments, we spend time together reviewing your labs in detail. You have the opportunity to take notes and ask questions! Over time, we continue to work together to monitor your health and adjust the plan as needed.
Together, we can work on optimizing your health and keeping you feeling well!
